Program

Around 8:00 am, our team will pick you up at your location anywhere in Tunis or Hammamet and, aboard our air-conditioned vehicle, you will begin your excursion to Utique, Ichkeul Park, and Bizerte.

Our first stop is Utique, an ancient city that served as the capital of Tunisia in the middle of the 1st century AD. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the fascinating archaeological site, which includes a Punic necropolis, Roman houses, and public monuments. The archaeological museum houses an impressive collection of sculptures and mosaics found on the site and its surroundings, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural history of the region.

Next, we journey to the Ichkeul National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its stunning lake and wetlands. This area is a crucial stopover for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds, including ducks, geese, storks, and flamingos, which come here to feed and nest. You will visit the ecological museum and take a leisurely walk to admire the diverse flora and fauna, with a chance to see the buffaloes that roam the nature reserve.

Continuing our adventure, we head towards Bizerte, where we will arrive just in time for a delicious traditional Tunisian lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, our tour of Bizerte begins with a visit to the picturesque corniche and the rugged northern coastline, offering spectacular panoramic views. Bizerte, originally a Phoenician settlement established in the 11th century BC, boasts a rich history and several Ottoman-era monuments, including impressive fortifications.

We will stop at the old port to explore the medina and the kasbah, with its charming old workshops and shops. There will be free time to wander through the new town, which retains many monuments from the French protectorate period, reminding visitors that Bizerte was the last city to be liberated seven years after Tunisia’s independence.

As the day draws to a close, we will make our way back to your hotel, your hearts and minds filled with the rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant culture of Utique, Ichkeul, and Bizerte.

This unforgettable journey through time, combined with the flavors of Tunisian cuisine, will leave you with memories to cherish and share.
